John and some Cattle

In the 15 years John and I have been walking together we have had some close encounters with cattle and usually try to give them a wide berth these days. On Thursday however we walked from Brackley to Tayinloan with John and Gavin walking one way and Martin & Tom the other and we gave them the car key at the halfway point. We met at the windfarm where Tom advised that they had met a lot of cattle with calves and had given them a wide berth. We however decided to be brave and walked right past them and they never batted an eye although as the photograph shows John was not very happy.

A welcome pint and good food

We were very fortunate to find a nice Hotel for most of our meals as we eat in the Argyll Hotel, Bellochantuy for three nights. The food and service was excellent and the view from the dining room accross to Gigha and the Paps of Jura were stunning.

Kintyre Way Walk

On Monday 20th July Tom and I headed for Claonaig on the Kintyre Peninsular to join Martin & John who had gone up on Saturday. We travelled by Ferry to Arran from Ardrossan and then by the small ferry from Lochranza to Claonaig where we were met by John & Martin along with Sandria and Aileen to start the first leg of our Kintyre Walk a distance od 12 miles to Tarbert. Sandria and Aileen walked with us for the first 2 miles along the shore to Skipness and then they returned to travel back to Edinburgh. When we started the walk we had a very heavy shower of rain but the weather soon improved and it was dry for the remainder of the day.
