Building a Trail

When I have walked in the Lake District or the Highlands of Scotland I always say I would never like the job of building the trails. I spoke too soon. Fraser's Nephew Easton recruited Fraser and me to help with this trail in Mill Creek Canyon to enable him to get his Eagle Scout Badge. The trail being built is about 3 miles and will link up Mill Creek Canyon with the Great Western Trail which stretches from Canada to Mexico. We set of at 7.00am to beat the heat and parked the car at 7200 ft up Mill Creek Canyon and then had to walk for an hour carrying tools to 9000ft to work on the last section of the trail. We started work at 10.00am and had to finish by 12 noon and then walk for an hour back down the trail carrying all our tools. By the finish I was absolutely knackered but the views were spectacular and it was a job well done, They hope to be finished before the snow arrives in October.
A welcome lunch break for Fraser and me
These guys do this every day. They are ski resort workers in the winter and do this in the summer.
A mountain meadow near the end of the trail.
The trail on the left in the Great Western Trail and our trail will eventually join up with this.
