Rockcliffe to Kippford Walk

This weeks walk took us to Rockcliffe and Kippford on the Solway Coast. As Ken from Edinburgh had never seen this area he came down with John and stayed Tuesday night with Tom so he could join us. He was not disappointed and enjoyed his first experience of this lovely coast. This is Balcary Bay from Castlehill Point.
Out first stage of the walk took us to Castlehill Point where we had a superb view of the Urr estuary.
Looking back at Rockcliffe
The tide is coming in fast and Rough Island will soon be cut off for a few hours.
Kippford with an almost full estuary as the tide comes in.
On our return along the shore back to Rockcliffe we met this wee fellow in the middle of the road.
This area of the coast has several small beaches that are completely filled with shells
Back in Rockcliffe at the end of the walk and Ken and Tom could not resist an Ice Cream. The weather stayed dry and we had a nice lunch in the Anchor Hotel. This will be Niall's last walk with us for a few months as he heads back to Australia tomorrow.

Kippford always looks better when the tide is in.
